Major Events in 2010

The “Hong Kong 3D Film New Action” was the major event of the FDC’s promotional initiative “Hong Kong Film New Action” in 2010. The event was held in two phases. The first phase of the promotional events were co-organised by the FDC, the Association of Motion Picture Post Production Professionals and the Hong Kong Productivity Council. It was held during “FILMART 2010” from 22 to 25 March 2010 through a series of activities such as exhibitions, forums, workshops, luncheons and seminars, technical and experience exchanges with distinguished special effects technicians from overseas. These activities showcased to the world Hong Kong’s 3D film production technology and achievements with a view to luring overseas investors to use the “one-stop” post-production service of Hong Kong's film industry and build up a long-term collaboration relationship, thereby promoting Hong Kong as a 3D movie production centre in Asia.

The second phase of the promotional events continued the theme of the activities for 2009. The FDC led a delegation to host “Hong Kong & Mainland Film Business Matching” in Beijing, Guangzhou and Shanghai. During 15-16 July 2009, the FDC led a delegation comprising more than ten new generation directors and representatives of the post production industry to host the 2-day “Beijing-HK Film Business Matching Event cum HK Post Production Industry Exhibition” in Beijing. More than 20 Beijing film investors and media production companies participated in the activity. It was well received and about 70 sessions of matching meetings were held.
