The workshop was organised especially for local film practitioners. The workshop covered both theory and practice, and renowned world-class experts were invited to share and demonstrate the principles of stereoscopic 3D filming and to provide guidance in making a short stereoscopic 3D film. The workshop was mainly divided into two parts. Part I Workshop Preparation enabled the participants to be familiar themselves with the overall workshop content and to provide them with the basic knowledge and principles of stereoscopic 3D filming. To enhance the learning, participants were given opportunity to have hands-on experience of operating 3D camera and technology at the Workshop Preparation. Part II Workshop was arranged with opportunity given to the participants to study and work on a short stereoscopic 3D film under experts’ guidance and supervision so as to have hands-on experience of production and post-production of 3D movies. Local and overseas renowned experts of production and post-production of 3D movies were invited as speakers and instructors, and professional stereoscopic 3D filming equipment was deployed. Several well-known local film directors were also invited to participate in shooting the short stereoscopic 3D film.
Over 60 participants were in attendance at the workshop. They were mainly the post production professionals, professional cinematographers and film directors of the Hong Kong film industry. The participants highly valued the workshop and its effectiveness. The workshop was vital to raise the quality and professional standards of the Hong Kong film production.
