Major Events in 2012

The “Hong Kong Film New Action - Power of Media Convergence” was the major event of the FDC’s promotional initiative “Hong Kong Film New Action” in 2012. The theme of the event was about film and multi-media cross platform collaboration. There were two phases.

The first phase of the promotional event was the project “Hong Kong New Action Producers Promotional Campaign & Taiwan Delegation Visit“ in November 2011. It was organised by the FDC and CreateHK and aimed at introducing Hong Kong new generation film producers, fostering the understanding and exchanges between the film industry players and other media operators of the two places and building a foundation for film financing and collaboration between the two places.

The second phase of the promotional event “Hong Kong Film New Action - Power of Media Convergence” was organised by the FDC and CreateHK, and co-organised by the Hong Kong Productivity Council and the Hong Kong Digital Entertainment Industry Support Centre. It was held concurrently with “FILMART 2012” on 19-22 March 2012. By organising a series of conferences and networking activities, the event provided a communication platform for discussion on the current landscape of multi-media cross platform collaboration and the development of common business models, aiming to facilitate the Hong Kong film industry to explore business opportunities in addition to the traditional market and enhance multi-dimensional development of the film industry. Another highlight of the event was to promote Hong Kong new generation producers and directors, with the hope that Hong Kong filmmakers could help enhance collaboration among stakeholders of the film industry and different media sectors in the Era of Digital Convergence of the 21st century. The project comprised a symposium of film and multi-media collaboration, project briefings and business matching meetings, a networking luncheon and a “Hong Kong Film New Action” pavilion.
