The “Hong Kong Film New Action - Business Forums and Promotional Sessions” was the major event of the FDC’s promotional initiative “Hong Kong Film New Action”. The FDC called on the new generation film directors who had expressed interest to join the “Hong Kong Film New Action” initiative, a core promotion event for the Hong Kong film industry during the period from October to November 2008. More than 30 film directors signed up to join the FDC delegation’s overseas visits to Taiwan, the Mainland, Singapore and Malaysia from December 2008 to February 2009. During these visits, new generation directors introduced their creative concepts, their works and their production plans to film investors, producers and distributors, etc., of the four places. During the “Hong Kong Film New Action - Business Forums & Promotional Sessions” held concurrently with “FILMART 2009” in March 2009, the FDC also set up booths to promote these Hong Kong new generation directors. The FDC held a series of activities such as business forums, promotional sessions and networking luncheons during “FILMART 2009” from 23 to 26 March 2009. These activities aimed at introducing Hong Kong new generation directors, promoting the filmmaking landscape in Hong Kong, further exploring the Mainland market and restoring Hong Kong films in the Singapore, Malaysia and Taiwan film markets. After a series of delegation visits and business meetings, the FDC consolidated the findings and published the “Report on the Market Survey on Hong Kong Films in the Singapore, Malaysia and Taiwan Film Markets”. A briefing session on the report was held at the Recital Hall of the Hong Kong City Hall on 12 May 2009 to report to stakeholders of the film industry on the details of the market survey.
