More details on the two new measures under the Film Development Fund

The Government announced on 4 November 2022 that the Government will implement two new measures, namely the Hong Kong-Asian Film Collaboration Funding Scheme and the Content Development Scheme for Streaming Platforms under the Film Development Fund. The Funding Scheme supports collaboration between local and Asian production teams for co-production of films, while the Content Development Scheme focuses on the development of new content on streaming platforms by cross sectoral production teams.
Film Production Financing Scheme (Relaxation Plan)
In view of the COVID-19, which has brought exceptional challenges to the Hong Kong film industry, the Film Development Fund launched a time-limited Relaxation Plan under Financing Scheme in mid-July 2020 to provide immediate relief to the industry. Relaxation Plan is widely welcomed by the industry, not only promoting more local film productions with diverse themes, but also creating room for the development of the local film industry especially young and emerging talents. "Chilli Laugh Story" is one of the applications under the "Relaxation Plan" that has successfully obtained financing from the scheme. Director Coba CHENG is a new film director. The film has completed shooting in December 2021 and was released on 14 July 2022.

Directors' Succession Scheme
In the spirit of mentorship, qualified directors are invited to partner with young directors to co-produce local films, encouraging directors to groom young talents, and to enhance the quality and quantity of local film productions. Each film will be granted a subsidy of around $9 million.

First Feature Film Initiative
The First Feature Film Initiative ("FFFI") is supported by the Hong Kong Film Development Council to identify new talents through a competition on screenplay and production proposals.

Film veterans recorded videos to share tips on filmmaking and how to stand out among other projects in the competition.
Hong Kong Film Awards
With the continued support of the Film Development Fund, the Hong Kong Film Awards comes into 40th anniversary, it has become a truly representative of the Hong Kong film industry and a leading film awards in Asia. The 40th Hong Kong Film Awards was held on 17th July 2022.
Master Class in Film Directing
Supported by the Film Development Fund, the Master Class in Film Directing is aimed at nurturing and training a new generation of film directors. Two editions of the Master Class in Film Directing were held by Hong Kong Film Directors' Guild in 2018 and 2021.
