Film Festival Promotion Scheme
With organisation of film industry delegations to and promotional activities in major film festivals, and sponsorship to Hong Kong films to compete in prestigious film awards, the Film Festival Promotion Scheme aims to vitalise the branding of Hong Kong films and enhance international exposure for new filmmakers and their productions, with a view to expanding market and building audience in Mainland/ overseas.
Co-production Funding Scheme
The objective is to subsidise film projects co-produced by filmmakers between Hong Kong and Asian countries with a view to enhancing exposures of such collaboration in Asian and international markets as well as achieving in-depth exchanges and mutual learning. Two film projects have been approved and each approved film project will receive a grant up to HK$9 million.
Film Production Financing Scheme (Relaxation Plan)
In view of the COVID-19, which has brought exceptional challenges to the Hong Kong film industry, the Film Development Fund launched a time-limited Relaxation Plan under Financing Scheme in mid-July 2020 to provide immediate relief to the industry. Relaxation Plan is widely welcomed by the industry, not only promoting more local film productions with diverse themes, but also creating room for the development of the local film industry especially young and emerging talents.
Content Development Scheme for Streaming Platforms
The Film Development Fund launched the "Content Development Scheme for Streaming Platforms" in 2023 which received enthusiastic response from the industry. The Scheme is conducted through a competition to recruit participating teams to develop content of mini-series for streaming platforms. The shortlisted teams will be awarded $0.6 million to $1.2 million for script development. Each winning team will be awarded $4.5 million to complete the production of the first episode or first two episodes of the series.
Directors' Succession Scheme
In the spirit of mentorship, qualified directors are invited to partner with young directors to co-produce local films, encouraging directors to groom young talents, and to enhance the quality and quantity of local film productions. Each film will be granted a subsidy of around $9 million.

First Feature Film Initiative
The First Feature Film Initiative ("FFFI") is supported by the Hong Kong Film Development Council to identify new talents through a competition on screenplay and production proposals.

Film veterans recorded videos to share tips on filmmaking and how to stand out among other projects in the competition.
Hong Kong Film Awards
With the continued support of the Film Development Fund, the Hong Kong Film Awards has become a truly representative of the Hong Kong film industry and a leading film awards in Asia. The 42th Hong Kong Film Awards was held on 14th April 2024.

Master Class in Film Directing
Supported by the Film Development Fund, the Master Class in Film Directing is aimed at nurturing and training a new generation of film directors. Three editions of the Master Class in Film Directing were held by Hong Kong Film Directors' Guild in 2018, 2021 and 2024.
