Organisation

Under the Hong Kong Film Development Council, there are three committees, including the Fund Vetting Committee, Market Development Committee and Support Services Committee, with a view to exploring issues of concern to the industry in different areas and assessing the applications applying for funds under the Film Development Fund. Under the Fund Vetting Committee, the Panel of Examiners is composed of experienced film industry practitioners. Its main responsibility is to assist the Fund Vetting Committee in evaluating applications for film production financing under the Film Development Fund. The Hong Kong Film Development Council Secretariat is mainly responsible for providing support to the Hong Kong Film Development Council and managing the Film Development Fund to provide financial support for projects and activities that benefit the development of the Hong Kong film industry.

Panel of Examiners

The main duties of 'Panel of Examiners' are to assist the Fund Vetting Committee which was set up under the Hong Kong Film Development Council, to evaluate applications for film production financing and film production grant under the Film Development Fund.

Hong Kong Film Development Council Secretariat

Our Function

  • To provide support to the Hong Kong Film Development Council;
  • To administer the Film Development Fund to provide funding support to projects and activities which contribute towards the development of the Hong Kong film industry;
  • To facilitate film production and in particular location shooting in Hong Kong;
  • To implement a regulatory framework governing the use of pyrotechnic substances and other dangerous goods for creating special effects in film and television programme productions and theatrical performances, including a licensing system for special effects operators;
  • To maintain a resource centre which provides information and reference materials on film production services in Hong Kong;
  • To help the industry to organise film festivals and exhibitions in Hong Kong and abroad;
  • To help the industry to publish trade promotion materials:
