The Hong Kong Film Development Council (FDC) today (October 22) announced the appointment of Mr Wellington Fung Wing as the Council’s Secretary-General. Mr Fung will assume office on 16 November.

Welcoming the appointment, the Chairman of the FDC, Mr Jack So, said: “ Mr Fung has been engaged in various managerial posts in the local film industry for 30 years. I am sure that by taking up the post, he would further contribute to the development of the industry.”

Mr Fung is one of the co-founders of Media Asia Group of companies and is currently the Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the BIG Media Group Limited.

Appointed through an open recruitment exercise, the Secretary-General will assume the important role of the linchpin between the Government and the FDC and indeed the whole film industry. He will act as the head of the Secretariat of the FDC to assist the Council and the Government in formulating strategies and action plans for the vibrant development of the film industry.

The FDC was established in April 2007 to advise the Government on the overall policy and strategy for the short and long term development of the local film industry.
